Artrageous Minds - a non profit organization

What's it all about?

Artrageous Minds is a non-profit organization registered with the State of Michigan, and currently pending Federal 501(c)3 status.

Artrageous Minds will be offering art, music and literary works created by people  with mental illness, and those who support mental health. We also have specially made t-shirts and products promoting mental health awareness.

Our visions for the future...

Artrageous Minds Studios will be serving the needs of children and adults by offering studio space with art and music classes where they can explore their creativity.

The vision on the horizon is to have a family camp, providing family counseling and the opportunity to explore the arts in an understanding and relaxing environment. The camp will be situated on a private lake - with plenty of land for exploring, a clean lake to swim in, fish, canoe/kayak, etc. There will be a large art barn - where people can go to learn something new, work on their skills, or just explore the arts.

Living with bipolar disorder tears families apart.  Our purpose is to put a little glue back in those relationships through family bonding experiences in art and nature. It's the dream of our future.

Our Purpose

It is our hope that new research will be done, and someday a cure will be found.  Statistics show that 30% end their lives in suicide. Imagine how many other individuals are left undiagnosed or misdiagnosed - that do not make the statistics, and commit suicide. The numbers must be staggering for those who attempt it.

A child should not suffer. Please help us help save the life of another. It is our hope that Artrageous Minds will raise awareness and stop stigma. Children need to enjoy their youth.  We want them to be happy - we want them to live.

What is bipolar disorder?

Many individuals do not truly know what bipolar is. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain - a medical condition - a disease that is INCURABLE. Until only a few years ago, the National Institute of Mental Health did not recognize that children can be afflicted with what is now known as Early Onset Childhood Bipolar Disorder. It was their belief that it did not manifest itself until adult years. It is very apparent that there is a need for awareness, a need for further research into cause and diagnosis, and most importantly in prescribing the correct medication.

It is important that you know and fully understand that I am not a therapist, psychologist, or physician.  I am not qualified to diagnose nor treat any condition.  My knowledge is learned through my own experiences raising a bipolar child.

I am simply, a mom with a mission.
